2020 the year I turned 36, Peachy Keen turns 10 and the wedding industry comes to a halt. This year certainly has been off to a shaky start and even though things are not going as originally planned, I still plan on making the best of it.
This August marks my 10 year anniversary since starting Peachy Keen Planners LLC. A lot has happened over the past 10 years, 344 weddings to be exact and still counting. Looking back over the years has made me realize just how truly blessed I am. So grateful for each new year and for every single opportunity that has come my way.
In 2010, I was making plans to venture outside of my mother's wedding venue, Simple Gatherings at Four Oaks Manor and do weddings on my own. I had been doing weddings for 6 years in Buford, while living in Atlanta and was desperate for a change.
As soon as my first website was launched I decided that 2011 was the year for change, and I made it my last year at Simple Gatherings. Little did I know that it would take two more years before my first Peachy Keen wedding would happen. In 2013 I was blessed with my first Peachy Keen client. I worked with this particular client for 10 months in total, helping them find their wedding venue and vendors, planning and designing their entire wedding. I learned a lot helping them, things that help me even today. When we were four months out of their wedding date their wedding venue, The Ravinia Club, went out of business. We had one week to find a new wedding venue, redraft wedding invitations and re-coordinate all of our vendors. Luckily, everything worked out! We ended up going with Canoe in Vinings and were able to keep the same date and everything fell right back into place. I got to work with some wedding vendors that I regularly work with and keep in touch with to this day. It truly was a wonderful experience and I wouldn't change a thing.
My fourth year in business was when things started to really take off for me. I was fortunate to plan and design weddings at Trolley Barn, the DeKalb History Center, The Brickyard, Flat Creek Country Club, The Piedmont Room, Fernbank, Villa Christina. the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown and even a private residence wedding in Roswell on the Chattahoochee River.
By the time I was in business five years, I had finally made Peachy Keen my full time job and watched my business boom within a year. 2015 was probably one my of favorite years looking back. So many wonderful weddings at Monday Night Brewing, Trolley Barn, Roswell Historic Cottage, Roswell River Landing, The Solarium, The Heritage at Sandy Springs, The Strand, The Georgian Terrace, The Ritz Carlton, Foundry at Puritan Mill, Wimbish House, 550 Trackside, The Farm, Train Depot Smithgall Arts Ctr, Hightower Falls and out of state weddings in Alabama and North Carolina. Such a beautiful year (tears, tears, tears - happy tears)!
2016 was one of the busiest years of my life. Every year the weddings seem to get more and more beautiful, especially this year. We were blessed to be able to celebrate weddings at Trolley Barn, the DeKalb History Center, The Solarium, The Georgian Terrace, Trees Atlanta, Wimbish House, The Engine Room, Wild Heaven, The Estate in Buckhead, CeNita Vineyards, Rhodes Hall, The Piedmont Room and Garden Tent, the Peachtree Club, Brawner Nayler Hall, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, Cator Woolford Gardens, Roswell River Landing, Summerour Studios, Roswell Historic Cottage, Monday Night Brewing, Swan House, Atlanta History Center, JCT Kitchen and Terrapin in Athens. Looking back 2016 was certainly a beautiful year and a year of good venue and vendor connections that I still maintain today.
Seven years in and time to make even bigger changes. 2017 was the year that I decided to get an office space. This was by far the biggest step I had taken as a business owner and it was also one the best decisions that I had made.
Having even the smallest of office spaces allowed us to create some beautiful weddings and expand our decor inventory.
2018 was another beautiful and successful Peachy Keen year. We outgrew our office space and began searching for a retail space to call home.
Last year, was another step in the right direction with a brand new year and brand new opportunity in a retail space, home sweet home. So much was poured into that new home...hopes, dreams, money, sweat/hard work, time, planning, replanning, sacrifice, etc
In between all of that hard work well, so many beautiful weddings happened...chasing dreams was certainly my 2019 theme.
2020, here we are...it started off so beautiful and now we have paused everything. One day it will be beautiful again and I can't wait.
I wouldn't be where I am today without the love and support of so many. So blessed to have almost 200 Weddingwire reviews and countless (saved) thank you cards from clients. I can't say thank you enough for entrusting me with your most cherished wedding days.
Looking forward to another 10 years.
