DJs & Bands
DJs
Hiring a DJ is an excellent choice for your wedding, they can provide music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, they can also provide the mic and sound system setup for the wedding (lapel mic, wireless mics etc). Some DJs provide their own table and linen and some do not (you will have to make sure they have on day of). Some DJs provide a front table facade and do not need a linen to hide their equipment. Make sure to include uplights, some DJs provide uplights (or it is an upcharge). Adding uplights to the reception space during the dance floor time adds to the dance floor vibes and "Mood" of the wedding night. Its a must have! Make sure that you like your DJ and they are familar with your venue (whether or not they have wifi, load in etc). Be sure to get them your music selections before the wedding (2-4) weeks prior to the wedding. Give them songs selections for the ceremony, reception (intros, first dance, parent dances, cake cutting, toasts, dance floor open etc) and playlists for (preceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, dance floor). Also give them do not play lists and let them know if you want your dance floor open for song requests. Your DJ will also be your MC making announcements during the wedding (Intros, First Dance, Dinner, Cake Cutting, Toasts, Dance Floor Open, Bouquet etc), these will be incorporated into your timeline. Listed below (besides myself) are DJs that I highly recommend. |
Bands
Hiring a Band for your wedding is an excellent choice to say the least. Your own personal concert experience on your wedding day, who wouldn't want that! I have narrowed down my list of wedding bands that I work with regularly and I know will provide you that very experience. Most couples hire a wedding band to provide the ceremony music (prelude and ceremony), cocktail hour and reception with the understanding that there will be periods of time when the band will not be playing and music will be provided by a playlist on an ipod or ipad. Most band will provide (2-3) musicians for the ceremony and cocktail hour and then the rest of the contracted band (3-6 typically total) for the reception. Bands will arrive before the ceremony and will require 2-4 hours for setup and a sound check. They will typically eat during the cocktail hour or dinner and take (1-2) breaks during the dance floor time. I highly recommend the bands listed below for your upcoming wedding day! Make sure to provide them with your ceremony music (prelude and ceremony), cocktail hour (what kind of music your want), dinner (what kind of music and playlist for breaks), reception (intros, first dance, etc), names for toasts, dance floor songs and playlist for breaks. |
