DIY Flowers
Can I do it myself?
Guess what you can do it yourself and have a beautiful wedding and save money in the process, but don't let the simplicity of Pinterest fool you, you still have to know what you are doing and I can give you some helpful tips to make sure that you don't have a nervous breakdown in the process. If you are creative and crafty like me, then you will probably enjoy taking on these projects. Choosing to DIY a wedding day is no simple task and will require work, so keep your vision simple and see if you can recruit some helping hands to make it go faster. Keep in mind you might decide that you can't do it all, that's ok too, you can DIY some things in your wedding and outsource others, whatever works best for you.
Here are some helpful tips:
Purchase supplies for processing flowers - buckets (you will fill with water), floral sheers, floral tape, bouquet/corsage pins, ribbon (wide and narrow), sharp scissors for cutting ribbon, floral preservative spray, trash bags
Purchase Flowers - FiftyFlowers.com, Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Costco, Sams Club
Purchase Vases - Goodwills, Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Ikea, Facebook Marketplace
Personal Flowers:
I highly recommend purchasing prebunched boxes and bouquets from Fiftyflowers.com, you can easily assemble the bouquets with the prebunched flowers. You can decide not to make boutonnieres if you don't feel like that is something you can make yourself or make just one for the groom (I'm sure you or someone can do it).
Creative ideas for not spending a lot on bridesmaids bouquets are:
Single Stem Flowers
Babies Breath Bouquets
Greenery Bouquets
Clutch Purses
Metal Hoops with Silk Flowers
Lanterns

Ceremony Archway & Flowers:
Is your dad good at building things or maybe your finance? You could decide to build your own archway, then after the wedding you can use it at your home in your backyard. This is a very popular thing that couples do. This is a big DIY project to take on, someone will have to build it in advance, make sure it will be sturdy and work (very important for an outdoor wedding), setup it up on the day of the wedding and take it down after the wedding. You can decide to provide your own fabric to keep it simple or ask your florist to make a couple of bigger flower arrangements to attach to the archway (these could then be repurposed to the reception).

Centerpieces:
Keep it simple when DIYing centerpieces for your wedding. You can do simple bud vases with flowers or buy prebunched centerpieces from Fiftyflowers.com and make simple flower arrangements. You can also purchase lanterns from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Ikea, Facebook Marketplace etc and also purchase pillar candles from Quickcandles.com. It's easy to setup budvases, lanterns and simple candles and these are things that you can provide yourself then resell after your wedding day. You will need to make sure that you have people that will be able to assist with setup and takedown, you can also add setup/takedown services with your wedding coordination services as well.
